In celebration of significant national days like Reunification Day (April 30th), many shops, houses and taxis display Vietnamese flags. Some people are motivated by patriotism, others because local ward representative show up and strongly encourage them to comply (or else…) Home to the District 2 People’s Committee (above right) in Thao Dien, Tran Ngoc Dien Street is ablaze with flags - every house and business has one.
